What we enjoyed: Collecting Greywolf as she was built in New Zealand.

New Zealand is the birth place of Greywolf and holds many memories for the crew. It is a beautiful country and is often referred to as one of the most picturesque and photogenic places on earth.

Mountain tops, rolling hills, stunning lakes, breath taking beaches and active volcanoes are just some of the natural beauties to be enjoyed in New Zealand. New Zealand is made up of two major land masses, North Island and South Island. We’ve highlighted some of the key points of interest below:

North Island – Auckland

Auckland is the largest metropolitan city in New Zealand and there is plenty to see and do. The city is surrounded by nature and it is possible to visit one of the volcanic cones such as One Tree Hill, Mount Eden or Mount Victoria.

In the heart of Auckland city the Auckland Art Gallery houses the most extensive collection of national and international art in New Zealand. Close by is The Hauraki Gulf, which is home to a multitude of remarkable islands waiting to be explored.

Since featuring in the Lord of the Rings films, New Zealand has been referred to as ‘The Home of Middle Earth’. Thanks to it’s stunning but dramatic scenery, New Zealand’s landscape provided the perfect backdrop to the films.

Visitors have the opportunity to experience the locations within the film, including the Shire village. Guided tours are available, which show the many locations featured within the films.

 

 

North Island – Taranaki

Located on the west coast of New Zealand, Taranaki is an ideal location for the outdoor enthusiast. From surfing to river rafting to hikes through the native forests to snowboarding, there real is something for everyone. Whilst enjoying the many adventures available in Taranaki the stunning scenery can be enjoyed.

 

 

 

 

 

South Island – Queenstown

Known for it’s stunning scenery and lively atmosphere Queenstown is a great place to visit. To truly see Queenstown a ride on the Skyline Gondola is a must. Breath taking views can be seen of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, and Lake Wakatipu.

For the more adventurous there are opportunities to go skiing, snowboarding, bungy jumping, canyoning, and even paragliding. After a day of adventure there is the opportunity to relax and unwind at the local winery.

 

 

South Island – Waitaki

Waitaki is a region with lots to offer, pure nature, great adventures, fascinating culture and heritage. The Waitaki District is ideal for any nature lover with stunning mountain scenery, glacier fed lakes and unique wildlife. For the more adventurous there are opportunities to enjoy this stunning region by foot, skiing, paddling or even by gliding through the sky.
